personally, I used Apple Mail to manage all of my web based e-mail addresses. I use it so I can access those emails offline, being that I'm on a laptop, often without internet.

I only use Mail.app for my school email as the webmail client they have setup is horrid. Although a friend of mine made a roundcube version that syncs with the campus directory so that anyone can use it (http://gtwebmail.net).

For everything else though, I use the Gmail web interface. I can't live without labeling and archives and the conversation view. Been using it since 6/29/2004... is it bad that I know the date I got my gmail account?

I only use web mail - namely gmail for personal and @mail for my business. I think its good because you are able to access your emails/information where ever you are in the world.

Right now I'm certainly gearing more towards Adam's response in that it's nice to be able to read emails offline. That, plus searching is MUCH faster locally than going web based.
